Independence day is a time to reflect and champion freedom for all. It is also an opportunity to give thanks to our brave veterans and those currently serving in the US military who have helped protect our freedoms. At Weinstein Caggiano, we are honored to have helped countless veterans and their families who were exposed to asbestos during their careers in different branches of the military. Back in the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s, asbestos was commonly used aboard ships, planes, and even in barracks. Service members were often exposed without even knowing that products they handled had asbestos in them, only to find out decades later after developing asbestos-related disease.
We also recognize the physical and mental toll that serving in the military can take on individuals, as it is often difficult to adjust back to civilian life after serving in war. In order to give back to those who have served our country, Weinstein Caggiano is proud to be a donor to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the only national organization dedicated to end veteran homelessness. NCHV works both by shaping policy and managing a referral helpline for those veterans in need. Effectively ending homelessness amongst veterans requires access to permanent housing, health care, employment, benefits, and other supportive services. Providing quick access to housing is a crucial first step in reducing the number of homeless vets across the nation, and NCHV is committed to making that happen.
