Phil Chu joined Weinstein Caggiano after serving several years as a prosecutor for the City of Seattle and King County. Born in New York, he moved to Bellevue, Washington, in the summer of 1998 and has not left the Pacific Northwest since then. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Economics from Whitman College in 2009, and his J.D. from Seattle University in 2012. At Seattle University, he was co-chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Law Student Association, as well as a member of the Student Bar Association and Black Law Student Association. He also competed in mock trial and was a teaching assistant for Criminal Law and Property Law.
After law school, Phil spent almost five years as an Assistant City Attorney with the Seattle City Attorney's Office, where he was responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes like assaults, harassments, and driving while under the influence. He then lateraled into the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office as a felony prosecutor assigned to the Violent and Economic Crimes Unit in Kent. Phil has tried numerous criminal cases to jury verdict and has spent countless hours in the courtroom honing his trial craft.
When he's not practicing, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing hockey and softball, practicing martial arts, and being a "foodie."
"As a prosecutor, your mission is to seek justice for your community and for individuals who are impacted by the actions of others that violate the law. There's no difference when it comes to working on behalf of victims affected by mesothelioma. I consider it a duty, responsibility, and privilege to hold entities responsible who failed to protect or warn those that they exposed to harm."
